As many know, I took a well-needed break after my summer pop-up schedule. It was fun but your girl needed some time to rest and catch up on life. Plus, you could only imagine how crazy it gets with back-to-back weekends in the kitchen- the dishes were insane!
I also took a break because I started my first Executive Chef position- leading a kitchen at the University of Michigan. It’s been such a fun and extreme learning experience. Especially since I plan on opening my restaurant soon. Here are a few pictures of my beautiful kitchen. Can you believe how far we’ve come?

Along with working and running my business- did I mention that I’m working to revive the Weatherby Neighborhood Association as President? We even purchased property for our first community garden where I can’t wait to grow fresh produce for my neighbors and community members. The weather has been playing with our first community event so I’ll invite you to something soon! (And probably beg for some donations lol)

I celebrated my 8th anniversary as a chef and business owner! I can’t believe it wasn’t long ago that I could only make Velveeta shells and cheese- omg. I posted a video of my journey on my instagram page.
Homegirl Kitchen is on a pop-up tour for November!
I’m very excited because I’m finally introducing you all to menu items that you’ll be able to enjoy at my brick-and-mortar that I’ll announce as soon as I find real estate and a few hundred thousand dollars lol. Please be sure to respond to your post-pop-up questionnaires, your support sooo important in this entire process.
Can’t wait to see you for our brekkie and OG menus at Craig’s Coffee, Two Birds, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit next month! Pre-order information will be in your email the week leading up to each pop-up.

Can’t wait to share more news soon! Be on the lookout as we go through some cosmetic changes for the upcoming year and ways to support Homegirl Kitchen and Weatherby Community Garden on their journeys. Chat soon!
