Foodie in the City: February Edition
It's been a while since I've just shared updates and not just a pop-up menu so welcome into my life as a foodie in the city!

Hey foodies! I’ve decided that maybe the easiest way to share my journey now as a full-time head chef + entrepreneur is by sharing photo hauls of life updates as a full-time foodie. At one point, I lovedddd simply being a content creator but what was a hobby is now the epicenter of my life and what pays the bills, lol.
So you’ll see me in your emails for more than just pop-up flyers (always appreciative of those who pop out!) and more foodie-in-the-city moments + some free recipes here and there!

Chile, I got ate up on Twitter for saying that Trader Joe’s was an accessory store for me. I’m sorry but I can’t see myself shopping there for my entire grocery list, but it’s good for cute little snacks, the hot honey, and the flower selection! But what do I know, most of my time is spent in Restaurant Depot or receiving Chef’s Warehouse truck orders, lol. Anyway, I’ve dedicated more time to pouring into myself when I’m not working or hosting a pop-up. This bouquet only cost about $19 and lasted about two weeks- it’s simple to make yourself happy! (sometimes takes a few coins and a margarita for me)

I know I don’t share too many details about work but I run a resident house for almost 100 college girls and I have named them the “girlypops” They get all of my time and energy these days since it’s my full-time job. But with all of the stress, long days, and chapter dinners- it’s a dream job to run a commercial kitchen and have full creative control over daily + event menus.

I love a cute coffee shop- when people ask what my hobbies are, “trying out new + cute coffee shops” is always at the top of the list. This month, I visited two and I’ll share them with you. Mad Nice Goods is a playful cafe located in the back of the fine dining restaurant. They offer coffee drinks, the best pistachio matcha latte, and in-house baked pastries. It’s a hole-in-the-wall, however a cute spot to meet your homegirl or have a solo latte on the go.

I’m so excited to be back in the pop-up mode. It’s been more difficult than I’d expected working a full-full-time job and still having time to tend to my business endeavors but all it takes it a little locking in and organization (whew) This month I hosted my favorite pop-up menu and the one that’ll be featured in my brick and mortar plans at Two Birds. The fried catfish sandwich with calabrian chili remoulade was very popular. Last week, I had the pleasure of popping up at Craig’s Coffe with brunch and it was a blast. Even with one of my burners going out so I cooked about 50 fried eggs on one burner lmao. I’ll be back next weekend with some brunch + lunch bites!

The girls love brunch and the other week I decided to do some work and have my therapy sesh of the week at the quaintest brunch spot: Brooklyn Street Local. The menu includes vegetarian + vegan options and some of the best poutine dishes. I wouldn’t recommend it for a birthday brunch however, its perfect for meeting a friend, having a business meeting, or solo brunch. And they have a bar! I ordered an espresso martini, vegan banana walnut pancakes, and the poutine of the month: jerk chicken poutine created by Chef Reniel of Flavors of Jamaica. The poutine features Mr. Levi’s Soul Sauce which is created in Detroit and proceeds from each poutine sale goes to the Detroit Black Farmer Land Fund which allows Black Detroiters to acquire land to create community gardens and orchards!
